The Best Marinade Ever

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

Seriously, it really is the best marinade ever.  I go back and forth between dry rubs and wet ones and for pieces of meat that can dry out quickly on the grill, I prefer wet marinades.  I’ve tried several marinade recipes over the years and I keep going back to this one.  It marries well with beef or chicken but my personal preference is on chicken.  Best of all, it uses simple ingredients that most everyone has in their pantry!

Hmm, can you tell I shop at Kroger?

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup canola oil
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Directions:

Here’s a little trick I learned.  Take a plastic bag and place it in a standard drinking cup.  You’re less likely to make a mess this way!  Combine all the ingredients in the bag, remove the bag from the cup and place your meat in the bag.  Marinate for 3-4 hours in the refrigerator before grilling.

Now if that’s not a simple marinade, I’m not sure what is!  So if you’re firing up the grill, try this and tell me what you think.  I’d love to hear your feedback!

  1. Oh this is very similar to my own made up marinade. Try using sesame seed oil instead of canola oil – it’ll be delightfully asian!

    • Oh that would be awesome! Now if my small town would just carry sesame oil (or at least stock it more than once every 3 months!).

      • I’m in the same boat with almond oil. They sell everything except almond oil here. Does your town have almond oil? We could trade!

  2. Sounds easy enough…I’ll give this recipe a try, once I get back home from vacation!

  3. Sometimes I think simple is the best. I mean we eat the meat to eat the meat right? I want to taste the goodness of the meat with a little enhancement not the marinade with a little meat taste. Sounds great!

  4. I bet this is good, thanks for the recipe!

  5. Wow! That looks yummy and so easy! I can’t wait to try it out!

  6. Looks delicious and easy. Will give it a try once we get the grill out.

  9. Love honey in marinades! I guess we will be trying this one for tomorrows grill!!

  10. Hmmmm….sounds yummy. Anything with any flavor, though, is only for the rest of the flavor because I can’t really tolerate any spices or seasonings due to health issues…but I will give it a try when we do grill for more than just the two of us!

  11. This seems super easy to do- and since I RARELY cook, I think this is something I can handle without burning the house down haha. Must try this, thanks! 🙂

  12. Can’t wait to try that out!! I love that posted pic’s too, that really helps me when I am trying something new!!
