Disney Releases 5 New Titles on Blu-Ray on August 21st

In case you missed it, Disney released five (yes, I said 5) new titles on Blu-Ray last week.  From mice to cats to dogs and more, there is a movie that everyone in your family will fall in love with all over again. The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under – This 2-movie collection features the voices of some of the greatest actors.  Join Bernard (the late Bob Newhart) and Miss Bianca (the late Eva Gabor) as the set off on two adventures that take them the Devil’s Baou and the Australian … [Read more...]

Happy National Dog Day

Did you know that August 26th is National Dog Day and I'm talking about canines, not the kind we eat!  Neither did I until a little Sparty told me.  As a salute to our 4-legged friends, along with sharing the latest poster from Disney's Frankenweenie (which comes out in theaters October 5), I though I would tell you about my favorite 4-legged friends, Rex and Wrigley. Rex is my lovable 13-year old lab mix who's only cares in life are finding a comfortable place to lay his arthritic bones, … [Read more...]

Disney/Pixar Brave: Scottish Egg Recipe

In anticipation of Disney/Pixar's Brave opening in theaters on June 22, I decided to try my hand at one of the foods featured in the movie, Scottish Eggs.  The first time I had ever heard of Scottish Eggs was a few months ago when my husband's co-worker brought them to work.  They were all the rage and gobbled up in minutes.  When Disney was gracious enough to share their Scottish Egg recipe with me, I knew I had to make them!  These are a perfect breakfast meal or afternoon snack.  Full of … [Read more...]

New Frankenweenie Poster Released

I have a confession.  Well, not really a confession, more like a proclamation.  I love Tim Burton movies even if they don't have Johnny Depp in them.  There, I said it.  Sure Mr. Depp brings another element of entertainment but honestly, it's Tim Burton's creative genius (yes, I think he's a genius) that makes me giddy when I learn he's directing a new movie.  It's also the fact that his films tend to have Halloweenish themes to them and if you know me, you know that Halloween is my favorite … [Read more...]

Marvel’s The Avengers Rocks the Box Office

Were you one of the lucky ones who got to see Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Loki this weekend?  If so, you were part of a blockbuster weekend!  The Walt Disney Studios announced today that Marvel’s The Avengers posted an estimated $200.3 million in its domestic debut May 4-6, shattering previous records and positioning the film as the highest-grossing domestic debut of all time. The film’s cumulative global box office gross is an estimated $641.8 million … [Read more...]

Disney/Pixar’s Brave “Family Legends” Trailer Released

IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO CHANGE YOUR FATE, WOULD YOU? - MERIDA, DISNEY/PIXAR'S BRAVE I've seen lots of activity online about Brave, a new animated movie from Disney/Pixar that comes out June 22, 2012 in the US.  At first I wasn't sure about the story line but after seeing the movie trailer and reading the plot outline, I'm hooked.  As a mother of a daughter, I have certain hopes and dreams for her: to have a career,  travel the world, fall in love and eventually have a family of her own. … [Read more...]

The Right Age For A Disney Vacation

We're going back. That's what I told my husband as we packed up the car.  We had such an awesome time during our Orlando vacation that we're doing it again, and soon. For those of you who have never been to Disney with your kids, take them.  Yes, it's expensive and yes, it wore me out but seeing the excitement on my daughter's face when she got to meet Mickey, Minnie and Donald (sorry Goofy, your line was too long) WAS priceless.  It's been over a month since our trip and she still tells … [Read more...]

The Hottest Show In Orlando – La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil

If you haven't seen a Cirque du Soleil show, you my friend are missing out.  I first saw La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil about eight years ago.  Professional conferences are typically held in large cities with lots of tourist attractions.  That year, the conference I was attending happened to be in Orlando.  I had never been to Orlando before and only associated it with Disney World.  Knowing we didn't have time to attend the parks, I figured my evenings would be spent eating and heading back to my … [Read more...]

My Little Princess Costume

Every day we see the same commercial on the television.  It starts off with the song by One Republic, "this has got to be the good life" and my daughter gets all excited and tells me, "I NEED to go on vacation," (we've been working on need versus want).  I'm sure you've seen the commercial as well.  It's for the most magical place on earth (besides Nordstroms shoe sales). One of the many smart money saving tips I've received from friends and experts is to get the princess dress before you … [Read more...]

I Heart Minnie DVD

We have two major milestones going on right  now.  My daughter is in the midst of potty training and we're preparing for a trip to Disney in Orlando in just a few short weeks.  While trying to limit her television watching, I'm also trying to get her comfortable with all the Disney characters that she'll be encountering.  The timing of I Heart Minnie's release was perfect!  Not only does she love Minnie Mouse (her Halloween costume two years ago) she's also grown quite fond of Donald Duck.  One … [Read more...]
