Snack Ideas for Kids Sports

When soccer seasons starts, there are two key questions my daughter wants to know: what color of socks should she get, and when is it her turn to bring snacks.

The socks don’t get a big reaction out of me. I figure she can pick whatever color she wants, as long as I can get them on Amazon Prime. But the snacks? That’s my time to come up with something a bit different from the usual sports drink and bag of cookies.

Sam’s Club is my go-to place when I need to buy in bulk, and when I’m shopping for wholesome snacks for my daughter’s team, I prefer foods that can sit in our pantry, until we need them. Typically you’ll find a bag of Annie’s White Cheddar Popcorn and a box of Cascadian Farm Chewy Granola Bars up for grabs at our house.

When it comes to snack time, I like to be organized. In my daughter’s first season of youth sports, I learned from the coach’s wife, bagging the snack and drink together was the way to go. It’s less chaotic when eights kids are running towards you, grabbing for anything they can get their hands on.

I try to have a stock of quart-sized plastic bags on hand. A drink and snack easily fits in the bag. Since they’re together, I don’t have to worry about forgetting anything (which I’ve been known to do). Each kid gets one bag, and all is right in the world. And if I’m feeling extra motivated, I’ll add a little something to the bags to make it more fun for the kids. Providing snacks that taste good and are better for our kids isn’t as hard. Just head to your local Sam’s Club and stock up!
