Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019!

2018 was a pretty fantastic year. Sure, there were some shitty moments, but for the most part, it rocked. As I reflect back on the year, there are certain things I don't want to forget. All. The. Running. Even though I backed down on the number of races I ran last year, according to my Garmin I ran 1,020 miles in 2018. Never one for running tons of miles, that's a definite record for me! After dealing with a broken finger and a plantar wart that sidelined me for several weeks, I ran … [Read more...]

Are You Following My Food Blog?

What? You didn't know I started one? Well, shame on me for not telling you sooner. If you're a blogger, you'll get what I'm about to tell you. Many of us started out the same way and took similar paths. If you're not a blogger, either bare with me or skip over the next couple of paragraphs. When I started blogging it was all about sharing my point of view on certain subjects. I'd write about why taking your dog to the post office is wrong or why I think I'm a super mom. I never felt … [Read more...]

Win a Vacation to LEGOLAND Florida Sweepstakes with Atlantic Luggag

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Atlantic Luggage for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. My family travels frequently for both business and pleasure.  We have gone through at least 15 suitcases in the past five years.  Many times, what seemed like a great deal only turned out to be a terrible one because the luggage didn't make it through more than a few flights.  Now that we have a little one which requires hauling so much extra *stuff* with us on … [Read more...]

Why Brown is Better

I originally was going to post this as a Wordless Wednesday. But really, I have to say SOMETHING! My heart literally skipped a beat when I saw this sitting on my front porch.  I knew exactly what it contained, cookies for my daughter's birthday party.  Luckily, Sugar and Flour (the company who shipped the cookies) took the time to write FRAGILE all over the box.  I would hate to see the condition it would have arrived in if she didn't. Its good to know that the local facility is blaming … [Read more...]

Daughter Removed From Botox Mom’s Custody

I'm all for someone receiving Botox injections.  In fact, I've received my fair share of them.  Give me 24 units of Botox for my birthday or Mother's Day and I'm a happy girl.   But giving them to your 8-year old daughter?!  I try not to judge others as I haven't walked in their shoes but in cases like this were common sense is no where to be found, one can only wonder what else this poor child has been exposed too.  What mother in their right mind would inject … [Read more...]

Wait For It

Over a month ago I teased all of you.  I told you I had the biggest shock ever and then didn't elaborate.  In fact, I didn't even mention it again which left some of you wondering what the heck was going on.  So you probably thought either I was being dramatic or lying, which sometimes can be confused.  Well, I wasn't being either.  I was actually in shock, followed by disbelief, disappointment and more shock! Last year I wrote about 111 - the number of times our … [Read more...]

Food For Thought Friday – Organic on the Cheap

Like many of you, I want to feed my daughter the fruits and vegetables with the least amount of exposure to pesticides as possible.  However I've found that its not always economically realistic to do this.  Buying organic produce can add 20-40% to your bill depending on the item you buy, whether its in season, etc.  Even living in the South, I can't maintain my garden year round so I have to rely on the grocery store or farmer's market for my produce. A few years … [Read more...]

Sick of the Sickness

Poor kid.  Sent home last Tuesday with a mysterious rash.Allergic reaction.  To what you ask?  No clue.  After begging her pediatrician's office to see her (they are swamped with a stomach flu outbreak) she gets some Benadryl and a note to return to school.  I fear she'll get sick from the doctor's office. Friday, same week, gets sent home as she has a fever.  Once she's home, acts like nothing is wrong.  Stays up until 9:30 which is WAY past her … [Read more...]

Food For Thought Friday (A Few Days Late)

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a green, yellow and red pepper?  Green peppers are picked from the vine before they are fully ripe.  They have a slightly bitter taste.  If left on the vine they will eventually turn yellow and then red.  Red peppers have a sweeter taste.  They typically cost more than green peppers and are less readily available.  Red peppers are great raw but even better when you roast them. I LOVE the flavor of … [Read more...]
