So I Missed International Talk Like A Pirate Day

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Pirate Talk. I honestly thought this game was going to teach me how to talk like a pirate and it did. I now know how to say gold "doubloon."  September 19th was International Talk Like A Pirate Day and I missed it. You would think since Brecken recently had a pirate birthday party, I would have been ON this. Instead, on September 19th according to Facebook this is what I was dealing with: Yes, some crazy My Little Pony app that was … [Read more...]

Celebrating Christmas With The First Ladies #NGFirstLadies

Christmas is one of my favorite holidays of the year.  I love decorating our home with fresh greenery and ornaments that we've collected over the years.  I enjoy watching my daughter's facial expressions as she vividly explains to me why she needs to have another play kitchen from Santa but most importantly, I love how people come together and how the spirit of giving can be felt wherever you go.  Its a time to reflect on the things for which we are fortunate to have. I don't have a bucket … [Read more...]

Core Bamboo Products Review

One thing I learned while taking the Social Fabric University Food Photography class was that in order to showcase your food, you need the proper props.  That means having gorgeous and unique serving pieces that display your food in an appetizing way.  Your food may taste good but it also needs to look good.  As someone who likes to entertain, I need to make sure my serving pieces not only look great but are also functional.  As a mom trying to make more eco-friendly choices when it comes to my … [Read more...]

Good Call For iPhone

Two years ago I had a personal cell phone, business cell phone and a land line.  Clearly for someone who does not like to talk on the phone, that was just way too many devices.  Quitting my job eliminated the business cell phone and finally about six months ago, I got rid off the land line for good.  Now, I only have one phone to keep track of and I like it that way. For the longest time I was a Blackberry user.  I had no idea what I was missing until I got my first iPhone last summer.  My … [Read more...]

You Want Me To Do What?

Him - Seriously, you want me to do what?! Me - I want you to take this bottle of Poo-Pourri Super Dooper Pooper spray and use it the next time you take a...well, you know. Him - And tell my why I should do this? Me - Well, because if it works for you, then it will work for anybody. :) It's been a while since I've written a post about poop.   The last post was almost 2 months ago!  Boy does time fly. Unfortunately we've had little progress since then.  To catch those of you who don't … [Read more...]

Summer Road Trip Must Have For Tweens: My Friendship Bracelet Maker

In elementary school (don't ask what year, I'm not telling) I remember friendship bracelets being all the rage.  We would raid our grandparent's embroidery thread and set off to make matching bracelets that showed we would be best friends forever!  Of course best friends changed and moved away but while we were together, our friendship was tied (haha, pun intended) together. One of the struggles I remember with making the bracelets was having something to secure them to during the tying … [Read more...]

iHealth Scale Review

You’ve heard me complain about my weight many times.  Usually it’s when I’m telling you about a new recipe that is low-fat or healthy.  What I don’t tell you (and I’m not entirely sure why) is that I’m an avid runner and that’s one of the reasons I’m so self-critical about my weight.  In my mind, I run several miles so weight shouldn’t be an issue but we all know it is.  Exercise is just one component of maintaining a healthy weight and deciding to quit shoving food in my mouth is the other.  … [Read more...]

Build It And They Will Come – LEGOLAND Florida

As a kid, I thought I was cool if I could make a building out of Legos.  I'd sort out my pieces by color and size and start building away.  Boy, have Legos come a long was since then.  Now you can buy kits to build everything from the Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter to the trash compactor in Toy Story 3.  Imagine taking all that creativity and creating a theme park.  That's exactly what Lego developers did.  In October 2011, LEGOLAND® opened their first theme park in Florida. Geared for kids … [Read more...]

Keeping Your Memories Safe With Picture Keeper

I became an avid picture taker once my daughter was born.  Wanting to capture every minute, I invested in a better point and shoot camera (I think my first P&S was a hand-me-down) and began snapping away.  It was so easy to take pictures and upload them to my computer.  So easy that now I have over 2000 photographs that only exist in one place.  On my PC.  That doesn't include the 200 or so on my laptop or the photos my husband has on his laptop.  Wanting a simple solution that would keep … [Read more...]
