5 Hiking Tips for Women

This article, 5 Hiking Tips for Women is sponsored by Poise. In eight hours I will be loading into a car and driving in Glacier National Park to begin my backcountry hiking/camping adventure. In my backpack I have all the essentials: a sleeping bag, mattress pad, one-burner stove, rain gear and of course, food and water. I've also included a few items that some might consider non-essentials but I consider them very important for everyone's enjoyment of this trip. :) When you have to carry … [Read more...]

Does Liposonix Work: My Experience

When it comes to our bodies, most everyone has a problem area (or for some people areas) that has bugged them their entire lives. For me, that area is my stomach. No matter what my weight is or how much I work out, I can never seem to get rid of fat in that area. I've joked that if I had a bigger butt, I would be perfectly fine with the size of my gut but reality and genetics has proven that won't be in my future. For me, getting an invasive procedure like liposuction to shrink my stomach … [Read more...]

Les Mills Immersive Fitness

This is freaking cool. Seriously cool. Les Mills is taking group fitness classes to a whole new level with his Immersive Fitness Program. For those of you who know me, I don't get worked up about group fitness programs. I'll attend the occasional yoga class and a few weeks ago I tried a kickboxing class. I prefer running or biking because I can do it whenever the urge hits me. I don't have to adhere to class schedules or check to see if the "good" instructor is teaching the class. With … [Read more...]

Building Strong Bones Together with Viactiv

I believe it's never too young to start teaching our children healthy habits. As a mom of an almost 5 year old, I think it's important to not only teach her healthy habits but to also lead by example. Kids are impressionable at this age and as moms, we have to take advantage of this. That's why Brecken and I are building strong bones together. We're both doing it with a healthy diet and exercise and I've added a secret weapon: Viactiv. I'll be the first to admit growing up, I had terrible … [Read more...]

Cowtown Half Marathon

Sometimes I get really fabulous ideas and usually, they involve entry fees and training, as my +1 has quickly learned. :) I decided that since I turn 40 this year, I wanted to "run" the Pikes Peak Ascent in August. Only there was a small problem...I didn't have a qualifying time. It used to be that you could just sign up and do the race, but not anymore. Now, you have to have a qualifying run and for me that meant I needed a half-marathon under 2 hours and 25 minutes. So what did I do? I … [Read more...]

Beginners Guide to Snowshoeing Gear

Last month I spent a weekend snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park. I had so many people ask me questions about preparing for my trip, that I thought I would dedicate a post to it. It may seem kind of simple at first but depending on the length of the hike, the conditions and of course, YOUR conditioning, you want to be prepared. Snowshoes First and foremost, you need snowshoes. You can rent them, borrow them from a friend or venture out to your local outdoor store and purchase a … [Read more...]

A Simple Start to a Healthier Me

I wrote this blog post as part of a movement by Weight Watchers to encourage people to remember that loving yourself starts with taking care of your health everyday. Though I was compensated for my time and commitment, all views, positive and negative, are my own. #LoveHealthyMe #wwsponsored Reality kicked in a few weeks ago and it kicked me hard. In fact, I was kicked and sucker punched and I didn't like it one bit. No one likes to hear the news that your friend has died from a massive heart … [Read more...]

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This #WalgreensBeauty shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for #CollectiveBias and its advertiser. I am a skin care junkie. Sitting in my bathroom I have thousands of dollars with of skin care products that are meant to prevent, protect or correct my skin. Online Yoga Classes with MyYogaWorks

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for MyYogaWorks. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating. There is a small part of me (OK, a large part of me) that hates to admit when I'm wrong, especially when it comes to acknowledging and accepting the limitations of my body. For the past 2-3 months I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis and as much as I'd like to deny it, it's only getting worse. … [Read more...]

Tracking my Steps with FitBit Flex and Moto X

I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Sprint. I received a Moto X™ phone and Fitbit Flex to facilitate my review. What to see something scary? Track the number of steps you take when you work from home. It's embarrassing but it's also eye-opening. When I realized how little I was moving during the day, I made it my personal challenge to walk at least 10,000 steps a day. From less than 5,000 (I won't embarrass myself and tell you the actual … [Read more...]
